Free news was fine, until it wasn't reliable any more. Now the only way to get good, honest reporting is to pay the creator. This is the best model for both writers and readers. While budget constraints do factor in, we all have the same 24 hours in which to read, so time is a more costly component. Paying for content rewards the reader by not wasting our time skipping over advertising that is intrusive and of no use to us. Your outstanding work has put you on the "must have" list. We appreciate the work of journalists who care about truth. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Lee, thank you for putting your critical thinking and clear communication skills to work on all our behalf. As you note, what you're doing is so important. Now go forget about it all for a day (at least) and enjoy! With gratitude....
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Lee! Over the past few years, I have become incredibly grateful for people who are committed to an approach of investigating and reporting that places integrity above other considerations, such as financial rewards or audience approval. Wishing you a great feast and much success for your substack!
Keep doing what you do, Lee. I’m sure I’m not the only one here who subscribes to learn about what is going on in the world: to put myself in a better decision-making position in my own life and for my family. To do that, I must be informed and I must know the truth. That requires paying attention to those who are willing to go down the rabbit holes to where the truth really lies, then share it coherently with the rest of us. The point of the exercise is to learn new information, not to team up with like-minded thinkers and agree or disagree. Those arguments are for simple souls and they are a distraction in living a life of purpose and joy. Be blessed, my friend, and enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Thank you for taking the time to extend best wishes.
Years ago, when I was lost in the Fox News, Hot Air, NeoCon Gulag-Bubble, the very mention of Lee Fang, or The Intercept, to this Suburban former “Republican” would make me crazy. I’m one of those guys old enough to have voted for Richard Nixon, which I did.
This year, after reading the First Republic Bank piece for free, which was first class investigative journalism, I subscribed. Then, when several of my Civ-Nat friends went ga-ga over Nutty Haley I was able to counter with “Hey, did you know...?” As we would say in the Sixties they “flipped out”. I actually converted my close friend into a former-NeoCon with that reporting. It is very important reporting. Vivek used that information quite effectively.
After seeing all the Right-wing websites gleefully and maliciously click-baiting about Burning Man, it gave me a nice balance. I’m old enough, and lived close enough, to go to the first Woodstock (which I didn’t). That sort of activity has never been my style but why vilify those who do? Thanks for that.
So, thanks to you (and others) I’m no longer Right-Left, Republican-Democrat, I’m, as Jordan Peterson says “Tell The Truth. Or, at Least DON’T LIE”.
Thank you, Lee, for providing a place where those of us who still want true journalism can find it. There aren’t many such places left.
Also grateful for the wonderful community that follows you here Lee.
Yours is a cornucopia of great reporting😊.

Lee-
Grateful for your work. Thank you for all you do. Wishing you abundance, peace, good health and happiness.
Unlikely, Antifa takes any time off but maybe, just maybe the agitators can find something to be grateful for. 😂
